Travis Families & Community-

We're so excited to welcome you to the new school year! We hope you have had a restful and wonderful summer. We have already had Rebel athletes and band members bustling on campus this week as well as student leaders volunteering with our Rising Rebel Camp. It has been wonderful to see students shining and being here for each other!

They will receive their full schedule on paper during their 5th period class. Students can also access their "live" schedule through the AISD Student Portal on their Chromebooks. Schedules will shift the first week of school due to leveling and schedule checks. Please familiarize yourself with checking student schedules to maintain the most current schedule during this period of leveling. *New Texas Law*

no cell phone

Be Advised!

No Student Personal Device During School Hours

WHY? During the most recent legislative session, Texas Lawmakers passed, and Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law, House Bill 1481, which prohibits students from using personal devices on district premises during school hours.

Items that must now be turned off and put away on Austin ISD campuses from Bell to bell include: Personal cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, smart watches, bluetooth headphones or earbuds, fitness trackers that can send or receive messages, personal (non-district issued) computers (laptops and computers), two-way radios, pagers, any other device capable of digital communication.

What this means for Austin ISD:

  • Devices must be turned off, stored out of sight, and not used during school hours

  • Exceptions will be made for documented medical needs and special educaiton accommodations

  • Violations will result in the confiscation of the item

The law aims to enhance student learning, minimize distractions, and reduce the risk of cyberbullying. We know this change will be most successful when families partner with the school. Your conversations and planning with your child is important to help us implement this law successfully and have a device-free campus during school.

A Friendly Reminder from the Nurse

Health Guidelines for School Attendance

We want students at school as much as possible, but sometimes students get sick and need to stay home. Keeping a sick child home protects other children, school staff, and visiting community members from catching an illness that can be spread from person to person.

A student with any of the following symptoms should not attend school:

  • Temperature of 100 degrees or higher

  • Nausea, Vomiting, or Diarrhea

  • Eye redness and/or drainage

  • Undetermined rash and/or scaly patches over any part of the body or scalp

  • Intense itching with signs and symptoms of secondary infection

  • Open, draining lesions
