Travis Family & Community Newsletter

Your weekly guide to Travis ECHS updates Week of September 29

Hello Travis Families & Community!

This week is Custodian Appreciation Week. Our custodians go above and beyond to keep Travis clean and safe. Thanks to our custodial staff for the pride they bring everyday to Travis!

Parents- Please join Principal Hodges on Tuesday evening for Principal's Chat. We will discuss Graduation Requirements and ACC Programs at Travis. Join us October 1 virtually at 6PM https://meet.google.com/qqt-wyth-pzi

We continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month- This Wednesday is Vaquero Day! The Spanish word for a cowboy is vaquero, with "vaca" meaning cow and "ero" meaning worker. Vaqueros have been in what is now Texas since the 1700s and have made huge contributions to modern ranching.

A friendly reminder to submit absence notes to the front office. Absences add up! Did you know, missing two days or more per month means a student misses more than 10% of the school year? Students will receive an "NC" for no credit on their transcripts even if they passed the class. Attendance matters! Be sure to check your student's attendance regularly at the parent portal: portal.austinisd.org

Reminder: Thursday and Friday are Student Holidays. Thursday is a Staff PD day.

Have a great week, Rebels!

Has a Custodian at Travis provided you with excellent support or gone out of their way to help you? Send them a RAVE!

Attendance Reminders/Updates

**90% rule what does it mean?**

If a student drops below 90% in a course, an "NC" is entered instead of a grade. The grade may be passing – but the student did not attend at least 90% of the time. Please contact your student’s Assistant Principal to see what corrective steps must be taken.
