Your weekly guide to Travis ECHS updates Week of November 4

Hello Travis Families & Community!

Dear Travis ECHS Families and Friends,

November is here, can you believe it? We had a blast last week dressing up for Halloween Spirit, celebrating at the Pep Rally, and honoring our loved ones with the Dia de los Muertos altar. We have several BIG things happening this week:

  • This week we have the Groundbreaking Ceremony on Friday, November 8 at 10am. Travis ECHS will soon start the construction for a brand new building--and after many months of planning and drafting the building, we are breaking ground for construction! It is an exciting time of innovation at Travis. Moving forward, we can expect to have to adjust accessible spaces and pathways as construction changes occur on site. Thank you for your patience and practicing safety through the changes!

  • This week we have another Student holiday on Tuesday, November 5 for Election Day. Take the time to get out and vote! Many of our seniors registered to vote, and some students will be working at local polling places. Need to vote? Polling places are here: https://votetravis.gov/current-election-information/current-election/

  • This week, Austin ISD Enrollment opens up! Are you ready to register? Check out the details below to log in and register for the 2025-2026 school year!

Have a great week, Rebels!

Has a staff person at Travis provided you with excellent support or gone out of their way to help you? Send them a RAVE!

Attendance Reminders/Updates

**90% rule what does it mean?**

If a student drops below 90% in a course, an "NC" is entered instead of a grade. The grade may be passing – but the student did not attend at least 90% of the time. Please contact your student’s Assistant Principal to see what corrective steps must be taken.

  • To regain credit, students can attend after school tutoring on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm through twilight. See Twilight information below.

A Note About Field Trip/Testing Attendance

You might notice that when your child is on a field trip or taking a test, you may initially receive an absence notification. TEA (Texas Education Agency) requires classroom teachers to take attendance based on who is physically present in their classrooms at the time attendance is taken.

If a student is on a field trip or taking a test, they will initially be counted absent, and our attendance clerk will then re-code absences as excused based on the field trip attendance submitted by the trip chaperones or by the testing roster submitted by the testing proctor. This process can take time, but we all want to make sure student attendance is as accurate as possible.

Please continue to contact the school Attendance clerk when you see an issue or have questions about your students attendance.
