Your weekly guide to Travis ECHS updates Week of November 11

Hello Travis Families & Community!

Dear Travis ECHS Families and Friends,

Last week, the official Groundbreaking for the construction of the new Travis building took place! Construction is set to take place over the next 3-4 years. It's an exciting time. Our students and alumni were honored and took part in the ceremony to mark this momentous day!

We also had our theater production of Alice in Wonderland open! Come check it out this delightful show this weekend! Open to families and siblings. Shows run Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm and Sundays at 2pm.

Looking forward to next week, Rebel families are invited to LITERACY NIGHT on November 20. We want to celebrate biliteracy on our campus. Many of our students and families speak two or more languages and this is a superpower to be celebrated! On Wednesday night we will have a nacho dinner, activities, and free books in multiple languages! See the flyer below!

Have a great week, Rebels!

Has a staff person at Travis provided you with excellent support or gone out of their way to help you? Send them a RAVE!

Attendance Reminders/Updates

90% Attendance Rule- What does it mean?

If a student drops below 90% in a course, an "NC" is entered instead of a grade. The grade may be passing – but the student did not attend at least 90% of the time. Please contact your student’s Assistant Principal to see what corrective steps must be taken.

To regain credit, students can attend after school tutoring on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm through twilight. See Twilight information below.

A Note About Field Trip/Testing Attendance

You might notice that when your child is on a field trip or taking a test, you may initially receive an absence notification. TEA (Texas Education Agency) requires classroom teachers to take attendance based on who is physically present in their classrooms at the time attendance is taken.

If a student is on a field trip or taking a test, they will initially be counted absent, and our attendance clerk will then re-code absences as excused based on the field trip attendance submitted by the trip chaperones or by the testing roster submitted by the testing proctor. This process can take time, but we all want to make sure student attendance is as accurate as possible.

Please continue to contact the school Attendance clerk when you see an issue or have questions about your students attendance.
