Attendance Reminders/Updates

**90% rule what does it mean?**

If a student drops below 90% in a course, an "NC" is entered instead of a grade. The grade may be passing – but the student did not attend at least 90% of the time. Please contact your student’s Assistant Principal to see what corrective steps must be taken.

Notices are going out to families this week whose students are dropping below 90% attendance and we will be required to attend "Attendance Matters" workshop:

  • Required participation in Attendance Workshop on Wednesday, October 16 from 9:30 - 10:30 am

  • Attendance at this workshop can contribute toward credit recovery.

  • To regain credit, students can attend after school tutoring on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:45 pm to 6:15 pm through twilight. See Twilight information below.

Social Emotional Learning Spotlight

This week we focus on Community Building. Students will learn what they have in common in addition to how they are different. As we approach the Cultural Seasonal Holidays, it's important to honor each other's cultural traditions in our community. November 1st is a student and staff holiday. November 1st is Dia de los Muertos, and this year it is also the Festival of Lights- Diwali. Learn about the Festival of Lights.

What traditions and customs does your family take part in over the coming holidays?

Juntos Podemos- New Program

We are excited to share that JUNTOS PODEMOS is a program through The University of Texas at Austin and has partnered with our campus this school year. They are currently looking for students and parents to join their program that may help teens manage stress and their experiences with racism and discrimination. Students and parents who join will take part in Youth-Only, Parent-Only, and Family meetings to learn about different skills for managing experiences with discrimination and racism. There will also be optional home activities and surveys throughout the program.

The program is looking for 9th and 10th grade (ages 14-17) Latino/Hispanic students and their parents to join, and those who join will gain up to $120 in cash, as well as food, prizes, and fun! Space in this program is limited, so make sure to visit the QR Code below to sign up through the RSVP form!

Feel free to reach the JUNTOS PODEMOS team with any questions:
