Staff Spotlight

This Week: Natalie Cardenas β€” October Top Dawg

  • Position & Years at Bowie: Social Studies Inclusion Teacher (3 years)
  • Favorite Bowie Tradition: As a big foodie, I love our campus culinary program! They cook incredible meals and create a full restaurant setting right here at Bowieβ€”it really feels like having our very own campus dining experience.
  • Hidden Talents: I ride a motorcycle and used to train in Jiu-Jitsu!
  • Why I Love Bowie: The strong sense of community. We operate as a true teamβ€”you can ask anyone for help and never feel like a burden. Everyone is supportive, and our students are absolutely awesome!

The Top Dawg Award recognizes Bowie staff who go above and beyond for our community, honoring each month's recipient with our traveling Dawg trophy.

Senior Spotlight

This Week: Alicia Laughlin

  • Activities: PALS, Silver Stars, teaching at my dance studio, and nannying/babysitting on weekends
  • Future Plans: Attend Texas A&M University to study occupational therapy.
  • Favorite Bowie Memory: When I got accepted into Arkansas, Ms. Mijares was waiting outside my class to tell me how proud she was of me and that I didn't need her anymore. I'll never forget that moment!
  • Advice for New Bulldogs: Don't be afraid to talk to everyone. Talk to everyone! It doesn't matter what other people think about you, only what you think about yourself.

The Bulldawg Brief: A Note from the Principal

Bowie Families,

I wanted to take a moment to share something that truly brightened my week and reminded me why it is such a privilege to serve this school.

Today, I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with several of our student leadership students as they pitched their own ideas for school improvements. Listening to them speak, I was blown away by their creativity, insight, and vision. Our students are extraordinarily talented, thoughtful, and articulate. What stood out to me most throughout every single pitch was their deep love for Bowie High School and their genuine desire to make it an even better place for their peers and future Bulldogs. Their energy and pride in our school community are truly inspiring.

Speaking of Bulldawg Pride, please join me in wishing the best of luck to our Coach McGill and her Volleyball team as they compete in their playoff game tonight! They have worked incredibly hard to reach this moment, and we are so proud of everything they’ve accomplished this season. Let's send them all our support as they take the court tonight! Go Dawgs!

Thank you for sending us such wonderful young people every day and for your continued partnership and support.

Brad Lancaster, Principal
