Please help us keep all our students safe, and let us help you move through the car line quickly by following these guidelines:
- Please make sure your child is ready to get out of the car right away. Hair brushing, hugs, putting materials in backpacks, etc. should happen before you enter the car line. 
- Wait for the cars in front of you to go through the line; do not pull ahead of the line.
- To make drop-off go more smoothly for everyone, please stay in the car. We’ll open doors and help your child unbuckle, get out, put on their backpack.
- A quick good-bye will help us get your child into class and other parents on their way. To avoid accidents, please avoid a continued goodbye through the window! 
- So that staff can get to their morning duties, the gate to school grounds closes promptly at 7:40. If your child is getting out of the car at 7:40, they’ll need to walk around to the front of the building and go in the main doors. 
- The car line is a single line. Please don't go around other cars unless directed by a staff member.

Teacher Assistant Appreciation Week is Sept 23rd-Sept 27th! We are committed to showing our Teacher Assistants how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication. If you would like to participate in honoring the Teacher Assistants at Zilker Elementary, please feel free to join us in expressing your gratitude to them.

Dyslexia and SPED Parent Group!

Let’s come together as parents and caregivers to support each other and our students with any conditions that impact learning. Including but not limited to dyslexia and our kiddos receiving special education support through IEPs and 504 plans.

Each one of us has shared a unique experience & while we may not have all the answers, together we can find them while listening, learning, and encouraging each other. Outside of meeting as parents/caregivers, some ideas are to invite occasional speakers to join us for various questions we may have outside of Zilker and/or with our school support team who work directly with our children.

This group will be an ever-changing resource as we learn more along the way and with each other’s contributions, questions & feedback!

MUSIC MEMORY TESTING FOR K-5TH GRADE
We are completing Unit 1 of our Music Memory lessons and will have our first listening test this week with make-ups next week. Students are the most successful when they listen to the selections outside of their weekly music class time. Here is a listening page for families to share at home. In the spring, 3rd-5th grade Panthers may try-out for our school Music Memory team and test their listening skills with other AISD students. Zilker sent 3 teams last school year, and they received first place trophies on display in the Music Room windows!

4TH & 5TH GRADE - LAST WEEK FOR CHOIR TRY-OUTS
I am thrilled with how many Panthers have been brave enough to sing in front of their class for auditions. Bravo! This is the final full week, September 23-27 for try-outs which take place during Music class. I will give one final opportunity the morning of Monday, September 30th. Songs can be anywhere from 30-60 seconds long and you may sing with no more than three students at a time. Results will be uploaded to students' Music Blend Course Homepage and an e-mail will be sent to parents in the afternoon of Monday, September 30th. Weekly rehearsals begin at 7:00 AM Tuesday, October 1st in Music Room 202. 

CAP10K UPDATES & FEE SCHEDULE:
We have almost 60 members on Team Zilker Panthers! Here is a current roster to check for your names. Thanks to all for committing to this event. The registration price is now $40. You can click here to join! I've included a fee schedule for the remaining months leading up to April. Please make sure you select the School Team rate and from a drop-down menu, you will find Zilker Panthers. You will be asked for confirmation if you "attend" the school. Family members may choose to register as individuals; however, your race materials (shirt, bib) will not be delivered to your child on campus if you are not part of the school team. Please send me a message if you registered as an individual and would like to be added to our team and I will send you an invite! 

We are excited to announce that our school is now using Voly, a new volunteer management system! If you are interested in volunteering on campus, please visit austinisd.voly.org to complete a quick background check.

This process is required for all volunteers, field trip chaperones, etc. and will help us ensure a safe and secure environment for our students. Thank you for your support and participation!

Join Austin Youth Fitness for biking club @ Little Zilker Park! 

Zilker Elementary students have the option of being picked up by coaches at school dismissal and guided to the park for the club start at 3:30pm.

AYF has been making “fitness fun” for 15 years! Our play-based running, biking, and yoga programs help kids develop strong bodies, minds, and spirits. And we hope your child will join us for some “Fitness Fun & Friendship” this fall!
