The first School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) meeting for the 25-26 school year will be held in person on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at AISD HQ, Room 221.

💛 The school will open at 7:10 am, any students who arrive after 7:40 am are considered tardy, students arriving after 9:45 is considered absent. Please schedule doctor appointments after school hours or during staff development days.

Subject: Important Update on Our Accountability Ratings
Dear Wooten Community,
The success of our students and the future of Wooten is something we all care about. We have some important news to share. As we shared at the start of the school year, your school has received an "unacceptable" rating from the state for two years in a row.
Wooten is one of 11 in the Austin school district with two unacceptable ratings. The state of Texas requires us to create a special plan to help us improve. This is called a Turnaround Plan (TAP).
What We're Doing
These campuses have some time to implement School Improvement strategies to improve their ratings so we will not need to consider more intensive intervention options at this time. This work has already begun with training for campus leadership and staff over the summer so we could start this school year strong.
Our Goal This Year
Our main goal this year is to break the chain of unacceptable ratings. We have to make sure we don't get another one.
This is important for all students in Austin. If we don’t make sure these 11 schools get an acceptable rating, these schools will be in an even more urgent situation with three unacceptable ratings. This is because in Texas if a school district allows any school to get five unacceptable ratings in a row, the state has an obligation to close the school or take over the entire school district, replacing the superintendent and the locally elected school board.
What's Next and How You Can Help We want to hear what you think. Your voice is very important as we develop this plan.
Please complete the Turnaround Plan Survey by Friday, September 26, 2025 to let us know what you want for the future of our school.
Come to PTO on September 25th to talk about this with us or during principal coffee on September 26th from 8:00-8:30.
The School Board will talk about our plan on October 9 and vote on it on November 6. The final plan has to be sent to the state by November 14.

Estimada comunidad de la Wooten:
El éxito de nuestros estudiantes y el futuro de Wooten es algo que nos importa a todos. Tenemos una noticia importante de compartir. Como comunicamos al principio del ciclo escolar, su escuela ha obtenido una clasificación “inaceptable” del estado por dos años consecutivos.
Su escuela es una de las 11 en el distrito escolar de Austin con dos clasificaciones inaceptables. El estado requiere que creemos un plan especial llamado un plan de transformación (o TAP, por sus siglas en inglés) para que nos ayude a mejorar.
Lo que estamos haciendo
Estos centros disponen de más tiempo para implementar estrategias de mejora escolar con el fin de mejorar sus clasificaciones, por lo que no será necesario considerar otras opciones más intensivas de intervención. Este trabajo ya comenzó con la capacitación del personal directivo y el personal de los planteles escolares durante el verano, para poder empezar el ciclo escolar con fuerza.
Nuestra meta este año
Nuestra meta principal este año es romper el ciclo de clasificaciones inaceptables. Tenemos que asegurarnos de que no obtengamos otra.
Esto es importante para todos los estudiantes de Austin. Si no nos aseguramos de que estas 11 escuelas obtengan una clasificación aceptable este año, estas escuelas estarán en una situación aún más urgente con trés clasificaciones inaceptables. Esto es porque en Texas, si un distrito escolar le permite a cualquier escuela obtener cinco clasificaciones inaceptables consecutivas, el estado tiene la obligación de cerrar la escuela o tomar el control de todo el distrito escolar, reemplazando al superintendente y a la mesa directiva elegida localmente.
Los próximos pasos y cómo puede ayudar

Welcome to the Wooten Library. My name is Liliana Howard and I'm your bilingual librarian for this school year. I will be sending out various programming opportunities during the school year for you and your family. My goal of our library is to make memories.
Your child will begin visiting the library next week on a weekly basis. We will begin the year by going over library do's and don'ts.
Library books will NOT go home during the 1st 9 weeks as we practice how to care, maintain and return books. Responsibility is an important skill for students to learn and we will be practicing this skill during the school year. After the 1st nine weeks, it will be teachers' choice whether the books go home.
If your child brings home books, please be aware that you are responsible for those library books. Find a safe spot to keep it like a backpack, shelf or basket. Please be aware that there are fees associated for lost or damaged books.

Aunque utilizaremos el currículo Maestro en Casa, el distrito ha cambiado el nombre del programa a "Inglés para mí". ¿Qué es Maestro en Casa? Es un programa de aprendizaje de inglés para padres de estudiantes del Distrito Escolar Independiente de Austin. Las clases serán virtuales este año y Austin ISD cuenta con el apoyo de ACE Austin para entregar los materiales a los participantes sin costo alguno. Los únicos requisitos para los participantes son asistir a la Orientación OBLIGATORIA, asistir al menos al 80% de las clases y completar las encuestas inicial y final.
Las clases durarán aproximadamente tres meses y los graduados recibirán un certificado de participación en abril del Distrito. Hay cupo limitado disponible. Si le interesa participar en estas clases, primero debe completar el siguiente formulario. Sin él, no podrá asegurar su lugar. Debe completar este formulario antes del 19 de septiembre de 2025. Una vez que lo complete, recibirá más información cuando se acerque la fecha de la orientación. La orientación se llevará a cabo virtualmente el 25 de septiembre a las 10am y a las 7pm.

I am reaching out to you because the ACE program will be bringing ESL classes back to campuses virtually. Although we will be using the Maestro en Casa curriculum, the district has changed the program's name to "English for Me." What is Maestro en Casa? It's an English learning program for parents of students in the Austin Independent School District. Classes will be virtual this year, and Austin ISD has the support of ACE Austin to provide materials to participants at no cost. The only requirements for participants are to attend the MANDATORY Orientation, attend at least 80% of classes, and complete the initial and final surveys.
Classes will last approximately three months, and graduates will receive a certificate of participation in April from the District. There is limited space available, if you are interested in participating in these classes, you must first complete the following form. Without it, you will not be able to secure your spot in the class. You must complete this form by September 19th, 2025. Once completed, you will receive more information closer to your Orientation Day. The MANDATORY Orientation will be held virtually on September 25th, 2025 at 10am and 7pm.

St. Louis Catholic Church's food pantry provides food assistance to the community every Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., please bring your own bags. This is a drive thru distribution, stay in your vehicle and line up behind other cars.
