2025-2026

Message from Ms. Bridget

I cannot believe we are moving into our third week of school already! It has been a pleasure getting to know your children. The weather is cooling, and while I still miss Montana's colorful leaves, I'm starting to think of fall and all the growth we will see. Thank you for your patience and grace as we all learned new routines. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming Breakfast with Ms. Bridget, Garden Day, Parent Teacher Association meet-up, or our Watch Me Work night on September 17.

As always, please reach out via phone or email to set-up a 1:1 meeting if you'd like to meet with me. I am eager to hear your suggestions and help resolve any concerns!

Your Principal,

Bridget M. Farr

Consent Forms and Consolidation News

During the 89th Texas Legislative Session, Senate Bill 12 (SB 12) was passed, which requires school districts to obtain written parental consent before providing certain services or allowing student participation in specific school-sponsored activities.

Beginning September 1, 2025, our district must have your consent in the following areas:

  1. Physical Health-Related Services
Certain school-based health services, such as non-emergency medical screenings or treatments, now require your written permission.

    Physical Health Services Consent Form
Formulario de consentimiento de servicios de salud física

  2. Mental Health-Related Services
The district must notify parents of staff services related to school counseling and give parents the opportunity to opt out before those services are provided to their child.

Mental Health Services Consent Form: English

Formulario de consentimiento de servicios de salud mental

These forms will require you to enter your student's Local ID number. The easiest way to find this information is to ask your student for their Chromebook login or by logging into your Parent Self-Serve Portal. If you do NOT have the number, we will put it in for you. A separate form must be completed for each child under the parent’s or guardian’s care in the household.

School Consolidations - Last month, Superintendent Segura released a statement releasing the Data Rubric Tool that will guide future conversations around boundaries, programming, and utilization. The District stressed that this is not a school closure list, but a starting point to spot challenges — like enrollment, building conditions, or program placement — so Austin ISD can plan for stronger schools.

  •  Dig deep into the tool and the Story Map: https://www.austinisd.org/consolidate/data-rubric

  •  Complete the Phase II Survey: Rubric Release, available from August 14–September 26, 2026

Winn PTA Logo

Welcome to another school year, Winn Montessori!  We’re so excited to see students back in classrooms and to get another year started with you.

Wondering what the PTA is all about?  Check out our page on the school website to learn more about what we do, who we are, and how to get involved with the school this year.  We have some great events coming up this week where you can meet and reconnect with other families, so check out he school calendar for more info.  Also, check out the support page on the school website for information on volunteering and donating funds.  We’re kicking off our annual fundraiser this week, so look for more information on that or if you’d like to get a jump on things and start a recurring donation (hint, hint), head to Givebutter to get started.  And remember that 100% of funds we raise go right back to supporting students and staff at our school and EVERY PENNY COUNTS!

Has your student outgrown their Winn Montessori shirt or are you looking for one for yourself?  You can buy one online (and maybe a sticker or two to go with it!) and we will deliver it to your student’s backpack.  We’ll also have more for sale at Breakfast with Bridget this Friday and at other school events coming up if you’d rather purchase one in person.  We take cash or card.

Upcoming events:

  • Sunday 9/7 9-11am: Garden Workday - meet at the veggie garden

  • Tuesday 9/9 4pm-close: P.Terry’s Spirit Night

  • Thursday 9/11 8am: Fall PTA Meeting in the Cafeteria

  • Saturday 9/13 10am-noon: PTA Playdate on the Winn Playground

Check out (and subscribe to) the school calendar to see more details on upcoming events.  And subscribe to our email list, follow our Facebook and Instagram accounts and join the Winn Families Facebook Group (not affiliated with the PTA, but we share info there) to keep in touch!
