Happy New Year, Winn Montessori community! Our staff is returning rested and ready for the challenge of helping every student on-campus meet their academic and social emotional goals. Our focus this spring semester will be daily numeracy, scripted literacy small groups, and focused work plans. Salute is Austin ISD’s annual celebration to recognize some of the district’s incredible team members for their continued dedication to student excellence and achievement in our schools.
The Salute Awards recognizes campus-based staff members in TEN categories. District employees, students, families, and the community are invited to submit a nomination for staff members they believe represent the very best of Austin ISD in the following categories:
Campus Clerical/Office Support Staff of the Year
Teaching Assistant of the Year
Custodial/Facilities Maintenance Staff of the Year
Transportation Staff of the Year
Food Service/Warehouse Staff of the Year
Campus Safety and Security Staff of the Year
Librarian of the Year
Counselor of the Year
Assistant Principal of the Year (Includes Academy Directors & Academic Deans)
Principal of the Year
Your nominees will have the option to continue in the award process, and the winners will be celebrated at our Salute Awards ceremony on May 7th, where we will also honor Teachers of Promise and Teachers of the Year.

Pecan Springs Elementary moved into their portables over the winter break. This will mean increased traffic for arrival and dismissal, as well as limited parking around the school area. We kindly request that families avoid using Dubuque as it is the primary road serving the Pecan Springs school.
Please also follow our newly painted exits out of our parking lot to ensure a smooth, safe arrival and dismissal. Learn more about the transportation updates here.
We will plan a shared community activity to get to know the Pecan Springs community sometime early in the semester.
As it gets chillier, please send your student with a coat or jacket. We will go outside as long as it's not raining and the wind chill is above 30 degrees. If your student needs a coat, please reach out to Mr. Juan by calling the front office.
Wind Chill 35° to 38° without precipitation:
45 minutes of exposure with a 15 min indoor break at the 25 min mark. Extremities must be covered.
Wind Chill 31° to 34° without precipitation:
30 minutes of exposure. Extremities must be covered and jackets/coats are required
