What a lovely first month of school! It has been a pleasure getting to know your children. Thank you for your patience and grace as we all learned new routines. I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming Breakfast with Ms. Bridget, Garden Day, Parent Teacher Association meet-up, or our Watch Me Work night on September 18.

School Communication

We want to stay in touch with you and your family! Below are the expected ways to communicate with different staff members. As a reminder, we are refraining from using text messages with our Montessori guides so they can focus on students!

Classroom Guides & Support Staff: Guides will respond to emails and voicemails within 24 business hours. They will also send a weekly one-page newsletter on Thursday afternoons. You can always request a parent conference to happen during the guides planning or after school. Front Office: Please call 512-414-2390 for any urgent issues. You can email winn@austinisd.org or maria.garzasoto@austinisd.org with less urgent needs.

Ms. Bridget: Ms. Bridget will send out text and email reminders, as well as posting to the Live Feed on the Austin, ISD app. She is also available via phone or email.

School Lunch

We provide free breakfast and lunch to ALL students. All meals are served family style.

Beginning September 23, the campus will be trialing a slightly simpler menu in order to accommodate the extra work for our cafeteria staff in providing family style meals. Students will still have multiple options for entrees. Check out the new menu here.

We are grateful for our cafeteria manager, Ms. Bernadette, who drives daily from San Antonio to provide our students this unique lunch experience!

Watch Me Work Night

Learn more about a Montessori education by watching your student and our Teacher Guides in action at our Watch Me Work night! Your classroom guide will contact you to schedule a 20-30 minute window between 5-7 p.m. to visit the classroom with your student. Then, you can explore our school grounds, meet our support staff, and connect with community organizations!

Third Base After Care

Click here to register for on-campus after care provided through Austin ISD's 3rd Base!

The Austin ISD 3rd Base After-School Program is a tuition-based, licensed childcare operation that currently services 25 elementary campuses within the district. This campus based program will allow a seamless transition from the classroom to after-school care for students in grades PK4 - 5th. The intent of the program is to provide a safe environment that enhances the student experience through quality programming and experiences. The 3rd Base Program is owned and operated by the school district.

Off-Campus After Care

Both the Austin Boys and Girls Club and the Givens Rec Center pick-up students from our campus to take to off-site after care programs.

Hello, Winn Montessori families! We're so happy to be back at school and can't wait to see old friends and meet some new ones. We have some GREAT events and PTA-sponsored programs coming this year that we can't wait to share with you. Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram accounts and the AISD app for more details.

BIG NEWS...we are kicking off our PTA fundraiser this week! If you're looking for a quick way to make a big impact at our school, consider making a donation to the Winn Montessori PTA Annual Fund. We can't do what we do without help from the community and TRULY every dollar counts. If you'd prefer to donate via cash or check, you can do so in the front office beginning next week. Thank you so much for supporting the students and staff at our incredible school!

And lastly, we are still collecting gently used uniform items to stock the uniform closet. Please drop off your clean items in the front office.

Upcoming PTA events (check the school calendar for more detail):

Sunday, 9/8, 9 AM: Garden Workday. Meet at the Winn veggie garden to get your hands dirty and begin to tackle the to-do list.
Sunday, 9/8, 9 AM: PTA Playdate! Bring the kiddos out to the Winn playground to run out some energy. Coffee and donuts will be provided, but feel free to bring snacks to share.
Thursday, 9/12, 8 AM: Fall PTA Meeting in the cafeteria. Come meet other caregivers and learn how to get involved at school via PTA.
Tuesday, 10/1, 4 PM-close: Spirit Night at PTerry's
