Valentine's Day has been one of my favorite holidays since I was a child because my family celebrated it as a time to acknowledge our family members and friends, not simply romantic love. This month, as I focus on finding our students and staff new school communities next year, I'm taking time to remember all the things I love about our school. Again, we will celebrate a final "We Love Winn Montessori" Week. This week will include a family meal, flower arranging for our staff, a card exchange with our students, and opportunities for families to RAVE about their classroom guide and assistant.

Enrollment for Reilly Montessori and Reilly Montessori Dual Language ends this Friday, February 6. Families who completed the survey (or Ms. Bridget believes, completed Enroll Austin) should recieve an email notifying them of their child's school for next year via email.
Enrollment for our new zoned schools, Andrews Elementary and Pecan Springs Elementary, open on Monday, February 16, along with all other Austin ISD elementary schools. Meet Andrews principal, Audrey Guerrero, Feb. 12 at 5:30pm and Pecan Springs new principal, Paula Noe, Feb. 24 at 5:30pm. Preschool enrollment for PK3 and PK4 open on April 1!

We Love Winn Montessori Week!

Monday, February 9: FREE DRESS-Wear what you LOVE! In class, students write what they love about our school.
Tuesday, February 10: Students bring a card or picture to show their appreciation for their guide and teaching assistant. Adults can submit a RAVE recognition for any Winn Montessori staff member: https://www.austinisd.org/hc/aisd-employee-experience/rave
Wednesday, February 11: Family Meal in the cafeteria! Thursday, February 13: Students read stories and poems about love for our friends, our families, and our world.
Friday, February 14: Valentine's Day card sharing in the classrooms! Students may bring cards, pencils, stickers, fun band aids, etc, but please, no food or candy.
An annual tradition for our staff is for them to arrange their own bouquet of flowers on Valentine's Day. Flower arranging is a Montessori lesson and this has been a fun treat for our staff. Families are encouraged to bring an unarranged bunch of flowers or greenery to morning drop-off on Thursday, February 13 or Friday, February 14. Thank you! |

Spring 2026 Assessment Calendar |
In the next few months, our students will have multiple chances to show how much they have learned this school year. It is a LOT of testing for students, but we try to create a calm, focused environment for older students to do their best work. Our youngest students take their assessments 1:1 with their guide so we can see what they know.
Families can help our students do their best on tests by getting a good night's sleep, encouraging them to do their best, and making sure not to schedule morning appointments, especially on test days. You can see our full Spring 2026 Assessment Calendar here. |

School Uniform and FREE Uniform Closet for Familes! |
Please remember that each day your child should be dressed in the school uniform. Our uniforms can be purchased at various retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Target or any second-hand store. Our uniform consists of: Navy or gray tops (or any Winn Montessori t-shirt) Navy or khaki bottoms (no denim) Navy, gray, or khaki dresses, jumpers, rompers, etc. (no denim) Tennis shoes (no Crocs, sandals or flip flops)
The PTA maintains a FREE uniform closet outside the Caregiver Support Specialist's office, and families are free to shop and donate gently used uniforms any time they wish throughout the school year. Additionally, the PTA holds uniform swap events several times per year for families to pass down their gently used items and shop for the next size up. |

We will celebrate Black History Month with a variety of activities including books by Black writers in library and the classroom and studies of Black artists in art and music, including Alma Thomas, Kehinde Wiley, Stevie Wonder, and Earth, Wind, and Fire! |

Welcome to February, Winn Montessori! Spring is right around the corner and that means some of our favorite school traditions are coming up. We will need your help to make them happen, so can you donate to the Annual Fund? Every bit counts and we can't make events like Circle of Games field day, Staff Appreciation Week, or Theatre Week happen without your financial contributions. Thank you so much for the support!

We are starting our search early this year for a family (or families) to host the two staff members from the Missoula Childrens Theatre who will be coming to our school to put on a production of The Secret Garden the week of May 11. As the host organization, we are required to provide one private, clean, comfortable, and safe animal-free room with access to the internet for each staff member. We have already had one family step forward, so we just need one more.
When: Sunday May 10 - Sunday May 17
Who: One cast member from the Missoula Childrens Theatre
Where: Your animal-free spare bedroom, tiny house, etc. that’s less than 5 miles to Winn.
What: One bedroom needed. You don’t need to provide meals, but we encourage you to invite the staff members for dinner if you can. They spend months at a time on the road and appreciate home cooked meals very much.
