I write you all with a heavy heart as our school will be closing at the end of the school year. In the next month, we should learn more about the Montessori classrooms at Reilly Elementary School and how families will confirm their seat at a new school next year. We will be calling, sending texts, and emails to make sure each family knows the options for their student and feels confident in the process to enroll. 

On Monday, December 15 from 3:30-5:30pm in the library, families are invited to drop-in anytime to meet 1:1 with district staff to ask questions about their school options and confirm their login status for EnrollAustin. 

While this change is in our future, we still have six months to grow and learn together. Our focus will remain on helping each student become a stronger reader, mathematician, and scientist, as well as a kind friend and a thoughtful citizen.

Please join us for a special giveaway of Live Oak saplings from the Winn Montessori Live Oak on Thursday, December 11 from 4-4:45pm to pick up your very own tree! Thank you to Vit Kaspar for growing the saplings and Elizabeth Harper for bringing educational mateirals from EcoRise. We are grateful to you both for coordinating this special event to honor our school!

Below are the changes approved by trustees for our school: 

-Winn Montessori will close at the end of the 2025-26 school year.

-Zoned students will be reassigned to attend either Andrews or Pecan Springs elementary school, based on their address. 

-The Montessori program will be incorporated into Reilly Elementary School as a strand. 

Students zoned to Winn have the following choices:

-Attend Andrews or Pecan Springs as assigned by address.

-Apply to transfer to Andrews if assigned to Pecan Springs, or vice versa, with priority. 

-Apply to Reilly Elementary School’s Montessori strand via priority transfer.

-Apply to transfer to another Austin ISD campus with their preferred programming via general transfer.

**Transfers are based on capacity and are not guaranteed. 

Students who transfer in to Winn have the following choices:

-Attend their zoned school.

-Apply to Andrews or Pecan Springs via a prioritized general transfer. 

-Apply to Reilly Elementary School’s Montessori strand via priority transfer.

-Apply to transfer to another Austin ISD campus with their preferred programming via general transfer. 

**Transfers are based on capacity and are not guaranteed.

NOTE: The Winn state-mandated turnaround plan will be implemented at Andrews, which will provide additional staffing and academic supports at the campus.

On December 19, we will celebrate the end of the semester with a pajama day and small classroom celebrations. Guides will reach out with specific details but snacks/food will be shared but kept minimal. Please do not send soda or any food items not approved by your guide. We look forward to this end-of-calendar-year party together.

As it gets chillier, please send your student with a coat or jacket. We will go outside as long as it's not raining and the wind chill is above 30 degrees. If your student needs a coat, please reach out to Mr. Juan by calling the front office.

• Wind Chill 35° to 38° without precipitation:

  • 45 minutes of exposure with a 15 min indoor break at the 25 min mark. Extremities must be covered.

• Wind Chill 31° to 34° without precipitation:

  • 30 minutes of exposure. Extremities must be covered and jackets/coats are required

• Wind Chill 25° to 30° without precipitation:

  • No Outside Activity

• Wind Chill under 25°:

  • No Outside Activity
