December Newsletter

2024-2025

Message from Ms. Bridget

Thank you to the entire community for coming together while I have been out caring for my mother in Montana. She is doing better than expected, but we learned she has 14 more weeks to go so needs to stay strong. I'm grateful to be able to go back so soon at the winter break. Thank you for your patience with my absence. I look forward to being back to school on December 9 to finish 2024 with this wonderful community.

Our Lower Elementary students are performing Wednesday, Dec. 11 for our first Winter Concert since I've been principal. We will only have seats for 125 with more standing room but the show will only be about 30 minutes. We ask that families only bring two guests per student to help us accommodate space. I am so grateful for our new music teacher, Ms. Esperanza, for putting this together!

What a wonderful school we are building together!

Pecan Springs joins us in January 2025!

Pecan Springs Elementary will be moving into their portables over the winter break. This will mean increased traffic for arrival and dismissal, as well as limited parking around the school area. We kindly request that families avoid using Dubuque as it is the primary road serving the Pecan Springs school.

Please also follow our newly painted exits out of our parking lot to ensure a smooth, safe arrival and dismissal. Learn more about the transportation updates here.

We will plan a shared community activity to get to know the Pecan Springs community sometime in January.

Hello, Winn Montessori families! We hope everyone had a wonderful Fall Break and Thanksgiving.  We are so grateful for this community that we’re building at our amazing school. And a shout out to all the parents who volunteered at the Thanksgiving family meal.  We will be soliciting volunteers for the next Family Meal on December 19, so keep an eye out for an email on that.

It was so fun to see everyone who came out to the Spirit Night at Austin Beerworks before Fall Break…we even saw a few staff members there! We received a $300 donation from the brewery based on sales that evening…YESSS! That check will finish funding t-shirts for all students and we are working hard to get those delivered before Winter Break.

If you haven’t had a chance to make a personal donation for the year, there is still time!  Remember that all donations are tax deductible and you will receive a tax receipt at the time of your donation.  Please make your one-time (or recurring!) donation via GiveButter.  Right now, we’re still working to fund the holiday Book Gift-Away ($1500). Every penny counts!

Upcoming PTA events (check the school calendar for more detail):

  • December 8: Playdate and Garden Workday

  • A potential spirit night at another local spot right before the holidays, so stay tuned!
