A Letter from Ms. Bedford

Hello Smallville,

We have kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month here on campus, I want to encourage everyone to take this time to celebrate the vibrant cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. This month offers a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about diversity, empathy, and the shared stories that enrich our school and community. We will acknowledge Hispanic Heritage Month through our PRIDE advisory lessons, daily announcements, and various events throughout the month. I encourage you to engage in conversations at home that support this learning.

I’m also thrilled to remind you about our upcoming Noche Latina dance! Scheduled for September 27th, this event promises an evening filled with lively music and plenty of fun. I encourage all of our Cougars to participate and make it a night to remember!

Additionally, our Fall Pumpkin Patch is just around the corner! Join us on October 6th for a day of outdoor fun, where families can pick pumpkins, enjoy seasonal treats, and participate in various activities. It’s a great way to embrace the fall season and create joyful memories with your children. Please note, that pumpkins and Food Vendors will require Cash or Cards, and you will need tickets for everything else. You can pre-purchase your ticket bundles for games and activities online. Plus, purchasing tickets in advance not only saves money but also enters you into a raffle for a $50 gift card basket from the PTA.

As we dive into these exciting events, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of savoring time with our kids. They grow up so quickly, and before we know it, they’ll be embarking on their own adventures. Let’s make an effort to cherish these everyday moments—whether it’s attending a school event, reading together, or simply enjoying each other’s company.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming events! Have an amazing weekend!

Stay Present Cougars,

Bedford

Small MS Pumpkin Patch & Fun

Small MS Pumpkin Patch & Fun
Sunday October 6th, 2024
11 am to 4:00 pm.

🎃 Join Us for a Spook-tacular Fall Fun Fest! 🎃

Imagine our football field transformed into a pumpkin paradise, bursting with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes just waiting for a new home! Picture this: Teachers, Admin, Staff, and Students all gathered on a Sunday, spread out at booths, ready to hand out tickets for exciting games, face painting, arts and crafts, and all things fall fun! It’s our First Ever Fall Fundraiser, and we need YOUR help to make it a smashing success!

How can you get involved? 🤔

  1. Spread the Word 📢: This event is for EVERYONE! Help us reach out by sharing the news with all elementary schools, neighborhood newsletters, Nextdoor, Ring groups, and any place you think families might be interested. If you spot our event on Facebook, hit that "Going" or "Interested" button to help boost our visibility!

  2. Shop Our Wishlist 🛒: We’re starting from scratch and need all the goodies—decorations, games, prizes, and supplies. Check out our wishlist and send something our way. You can even have it shipped directly to us at Small!

  3. Donate Snacks & Drinks 🍿: We’ll be selling snacks and drinks to keep everyone fueled for fun. Help us keep costs down and profits up by donating prepackaged snacks and drinks.

  4. Volunteer 🙌: We need enthusiastic helpers to run games, manage booths, and sell pumpkins. Sign up on Voly and lend a hand!

  5. Get Your Pumpkin & Play 🎃: Pre-purchase tickets online, then swing by to pick out your favorite gourd, play some festive games, and enjoy tasty fall treats!

Just like our Splashfest in the spring, all proceeds from this event will support the activity funds of participating departments and clubs. This means extra funds for teachers to buy supplies and create engaging lessons that make Small Middle School uniquely awesome!

Let’s make this Fall Fun Fest a memorable event for all ages. See you there!

This amazing event is sponsored by Jersey Mikes!
Go get a sub this week and tell Manny thanks for partnering with Small MS!

Book Vending Machine Img

That's right, a vending machine just for books!

The Small Middle School Library was selected for a $10,000 grant from the Austin Ed Fund to purchase a vending machine and books to fill it with!

This vending machine will have free books for students and will hopefully be here before the end of the fall semester. A huge thank you to the Austin Ed Fund for fostering literacy and a love for books here at Small and in AISD.

It will look something like this, but it will have a custom wrap just for our school:
