Hello, Smallville!
This was a busy week on campus, and I’m sure everyone is ready to dive into our Spring Break vacation next week! Throughout any given school year, we as a community share laughter, joyful moments, and plenty of fun. However, we also encounter challenges. What I love most about Smallville is everyone’s commitment to working together and upholding our campus values in every situation. These values include respecting our campus, each other, and our unique differences. We are all human, and each and every one of us is doing the best we can every day.
I want to thank all of our community members who worked alongside us this past week and the parents who called or sent positive messages and words of encouragement. You are what makes Smallville thrive!
Speaking of thriving, our Cougars continue to shine academically! I received our STAAR interim scores, and we outscored the district and region in every tested subject! This is a huge achievement, and I couldn’t be prouder of our students and staff.
Additionally, a couple of weeks ago, we had our unannounced TEA State Campus Safety Check. Every school in the state receives this evaluation. A state assessor visited our campus unannounced to evaluate our safety procedures, and I’m proud to share that we passed with flying colors and no safety issues were reported! Thank you, Cougar staff, for your hard work and dedication to maintaining the safety of our campus.
Enjoy your weekend, and don’t forget to set your clocks forward this weekend!

Once your student has received these vaccines, please submit the immunization record either via email or paper copy to the school nurse at Small Middle school. Thank you!

These two itineraries were picked with a lot of thought put into them. Students (and adults!) will get to see so many iconic places on tour, including a great number of World Heritage Sites. The hands-on experiences chosen are great as well, the landmarks we'll visit, and the sights you'll see are all world-class: From the Island of Capri "faraglione" to the Acropolis, to swimming on Heraklion beaches in Crete, to stepping on Kyoto's most amazing temple - a national treasure itself, to visiting technology museums in Tokyo and Japanese gardens in Osaka, walking in the steps of Gladiators in the Colosseum and Roman Forum, or learning about how Pompeii got buried in ashes with Mount Vesuvius in the background, or stepping into Delphi and learning about oracles in Greece, it's going to be amazing!
