April is a month full of celebrations, and I would like to highlight two important observances: Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month, and Arab American Heritage Month. Autism Awareness is a time to educate ourselves about autism and the diverse ways it manifests across the spectrum. However, awareness alone is not enough — true acceptance means embracing individuals with autism for who they are and recognizing their unique talents and contributions. Autism occurs on a spectrum, which means that every person with autism experiences the world differently, with varying strengths and challenges. Simple steps we can take to be more inclusive include offering patience and understanding in our interactions and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and supported. Let’s come together to celebrate the unique strengths and perspectives each individual brings to our school, fostering an environment that is both inclusive and accepting for all.
Additionally, this week marks National Assistant Principal Week, and I’d like to take a moment to shine a well-deserved spotlight on our incredible Assistant Principals; Gabriel Adame, Larry Featherstone, Teri Kirby and Sam Parrott. They are truly the unsung heroes of our campus, working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the success and well-being of every student and staff member. Their dedication and leadership make a profound difference in our school every day, and we are so fortunate to have such an amazing team. I encourage all of our parents to take a moment to send a note of appreciation to our Assistant Principals — a small gesture that can go a long way in showing how much we value their hard work and commitment.
