💙 A Message of Thanks from Govalle Elementary 💙
For 94 years, Govalle Elementary has proudly served the Govalle community—educating generations of Roadrunners and building a legacy of care, connection, and excellence. We are deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in us to nurture and teach your children.
We know there’s uncertainty as AISD considers a proposal to transition Govalle to a Montessori program in the future. While no decision has been made, our commitment remains the same—to serve our students with enthusiasm, care, and dedication each and every day. We remain steadfast and resilient—just like our incredible community. Thank you for being part of our story.
This year, let’s make it one for the history books—the best year ever in the proud history of Govalle! We invite our families and community members to invest in our students by helping them reach their learning goals:
📚 Read together for 20 minutes a day
📝 Help with homework and encourage curiosity
🚗 Turn everyday moments—like shopping or car rides—into fun learning opportunities
Every little bit helps our students meet their goals and strengthens their confidence as lifelong learners.
Change is never easy, but our Roadrunner spirit is strong. Wherever our students go, they’ll carry the pride and strength of Govalle with them.
It is our honor and joy to serve this incredible community.
Wishing you all a warm and Happy Thanksgiving!
💙 Govalle Strong. Roadrunner Proud. 💙

Govalle Elementary is being proposed for a program change beginning next school year. Under this proposal, Govalle would transition to a Montessori campus.
This change would introduce a new learning model focused on hands-on exploration, independence, and individualized instruction — a different approach from traditional teaching programs.
However, it’s important for families to understand that if this proposal is approved:
All teachers and staff would be new to the campus.
There would be no guarantees for special programming, such as Special Education or Dual Language.
Transportation would not be provided.
Families who choose to opt out of the new Montessori program would be rezoned based on their home address to either Zavala Elementary or Ortega Elementary, with no guaranteed transportation.

A Smooth Start: Morning Routine & Instruction Time
We know that a calm start sets the stage for a great day of learning! Our goal is to have every child settled, comfortable, and ready to engage when the bell rings at 7:40 a.m.
Instruction begins promptly at 7:40 a.m.
The Power of Punctuality: Arriving a little early gives your child the opportunity to enjoy breakfast in the classroom and ease into the school day. When students don’t feel rushed, they are calm, focused, and prepared to learn. Students not in their classroom by 7:40 a.m. will be marked tardy.
How You Can Help: Partner with us by establishing a smooth and effective morning routine at home. This simple step ensures your child is in their seat and ready to start the day on time!
RAPTOR Safe Visitor Protocols
- All visitors are required to present valid identification and undergo a background check through the Raptor system. To streamline the process, visitors can download the RAPTOR SAFE app on their smartphones, which allows for ID bypass.
- Visitors must be listed in the student’s Frontline profile to gain access to the student and campus facilities.
- The campus reserves the right to restrict visitor access during certain events. Advance notice will be provided in such cases.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and secure environment for everyone.
