Dear Crockett Families,
I hope this message finds you well and in the fall spirit, with some cooler temperatures finally on the horizon! The past month at Crockett had so many wonderful experiences, including the kick off to Hispanic Heritage month, Loteria Night and Cross Country Fun Run, as well as Senior Night and several successful contests for our fall sports and performance groups.
As you may know, Austin ISD is releasing the preliminary districtwide school consolidation and boundary change plan the evening of Friday, Oct. 3. You should receive a letter regarding proposed changes that affect Crockett, and the entire district package will also be viewable at that time. Please reach out to me if you have any questions regarding this process. Austin ISD will also host “Open Houses” during the month of October at the dates and times found here.
I have been reflecting on our Crockett Core Value of Peace, which we define with our students as "show empathy, seek to understand, and create harmony". Community is something that all humans need to thrive, and no community exists without conflict. By approaching our disagreements as a community through authentic listening and discussion- without assumptions or judgment- we can develop deeper relationships and avoid harm and violence. We encourage all of our community members to seek out a supportive adult on campus when conflict arises so we can work together to find a solution and form deeper connections. Students can also submit campus safety concerns through https://www.austinisd.org/safespace
October will be a busy month at Crockett and I hope to see many of our families and students at our upcoming events. Our Crockett Fall Program Showcase and NHS Fall Festival will be October 17th 5:30- 7:30PM. I hope to see both our current and future Cougars there to build community and see all the great things Crockett has to offer. October 22nd will also be a busy day, with most students participating in college readiness testing through 9th grade college trips, PSAT or TSI exams. As always, please reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or celebrations. Wishing you an Always Victorious October!
Warm regards,
Shana King, Proud Principal
