Happy September!
We’re just a few weeks into the school year, and it’s incredible to see all the positive energy around campus! Students are settling into their routines, teachers are diving into engaging lessons, and Cougar PRIDE is felt throughout our community.
One of our Crockett PRIDE Core Values is “Engagement”. It’s been wonderful to see all of our students start the year organized with their binders, notebooks, planners and chromebooks. I encourage all of our families to ask students to show you their notebooks and binders to discuss what they are learning in class each day. Maintaining systems of organization is one way we are supporting all of our Cougars to be College, Career, and Life ready!
Our athletic contests are also in full swing. I am so proud of all of the hard work that our coaches, athletes, artists and directors have done to prepare for successful seasons! You can see all of our upcoming contests and events in the schedules below. We ask that all spectators supporting our Cougars act according to the UIL Sportsmanship expectations. When Crockett sponsors an event, it considers that event to be an extension of the classroom. One very important lesson for our students is one of sportsmanship, and in AISD we use “The Texas Way” to educate athletes, coaches, and fans on Sportsmanship. Please help Crockett to promote good sportsmanship by refraining from derogatory remarks and gestures to players, coaches, officials or other spectators. Fans can be removed immediately by Officials under SB 2929 for unsportsmanlike conduct. School athletics and fine arts are a vital part of student development, and together we can all help our students prepare for the future.
I invite all of our families and staff to join me at “Coffee with the Principal” on TODAY September 3rd at 5:30 in the Crockett Library. This bilingual gathering is an opportunity to build relationships with other members of the community, as well as provide feedback and ask questions. This event will lead directly into our first joint Campus Advisory Council (CAC) and Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) meeting of the year at 6:00 PM. All are encouraged to attend.
Thank you for all that each of you do to support our community!
With Cougar PRIDE and Gratitude,
Shana King
