Maddox's Message

Mr. Maddox

Covington Colts,

Tomorrow is Veterans Day, a day dedicated to recognizing and commemorating those who have bravely served and sacrificed to protect our country. This past Wednesday, we honored their commitment and expressed our deepest gratitude during Covington's annual Veterans Day Assembly. Our Fine Arts Department and students performed beautifully, celebrating veterans throughout our community. Thank you to all who were part of this special event, and a heartfelt thanks to the parents who attended or volunteered.

We also want to thank all the parents who joined the CAC meeting on Wednesday. It was wonderful to welcome new parent members to the CAC Board, and we truly appreciate everyone’s dedication to supporting our school community.

As a reminder, please consider signing up to volunteer at the school whenever you’re available. Your presence and support make a meaningful difference, and we’re always grateful to parents who can lend a hand.

Finally, we’re just two weeks away from Thanksgiving! Let’s keep up the fantastic work as we approach the holiday season.

Your proud principal,

Cedric Maddox

Attendance Matters

R.E.A.L

  • Routines: Daily attendance routines can reduce stress, increase your child’s self-confidence and lay a foundation for good attendance in later grades.

  • Engagement:  Participation in school helps your child connect with other children and adults and get excited about learning.

  • Access to Resources:  Schools can give you access to meals, physical and mental health care and other supports, and fun enrichment activities (sports, clubs, music, afterschool and summer programs, etc.).

  • Learning:  Children learn best from hand-on activities and through meaningful interactions with their teacher and other students.

We implement a dual-generational program that includes the parents; meaning out-of-school events like college trips, conferences, and fairs. We currently have open enrollment for our cohorts at Covington Middle School for our 6th-8th grade students. We have attached our link for our application.
