Covington Colts,
To say the last week and a half has been challenging for our students, parents, faculty, staff, and the entire Covington community is an understatement. However, in the face of these difficulties, our faculty and staff have remained steadfast, our students have demonstrated immense courage, and you, the community, have shown an incredible level of support. I could not be more proud of how we have come together during these times. Let’s continue to support and uplift one another as we move forward through the school year.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who attended the Community Forum this past week. While I understand that some of your questions may not have been fully answered, your presence and commitment to the safety and security of everyone in our community spoke volumes. I will continue to engage in meaningful conversations with district personnel regarding policies and practices we can implement to further enhance the safety of our campus.
As part of our ongoing efforts to protect our students and create a secure environment, we have recently provided all students access to an anonymous online reporting system. This tool will allow students to report any incidents of bullying, misbehavior, weapons, or other concerns confidentially, adding an extra layer of safety for our school community.
Finally, I am excited to remind everyone that this Friday is our annual Fall Friendzy! After the challenges of the last few weeks, this event will give our students a much-needed opportunity to relax and enjoy time with their friends after school. We hope it brings some fun and lightheartedness to our students, who certainly deserve it.
Thank you again for your continued support, and let’s keep working together to make Covington a safe and thriving place for all.
Your proud principal,
Cedric Maddox
