Message from the Principal
Dear Covington Middle School Parents / Guardians,
As we wrap up week 4, I’m proud to say we are in the full swing of the school year. The atmosphere at Covington feels different—better—than it has been since I first arrived two years ago. This is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our incredible faculty and staff, who have been instrumental in supporting and guiding me in my leadership. I also want to acknowledge the unwavering support from our parents and students throughout the Covington community. Together, we’re creating a positive and thriving environment.
A special thank you to the parents who attended our first Coffee with the Principal. Although it was a small group, the open dialogue and conversations we had about the school were meaningful and impactful. I encourage more of you to join future events as we continue these important discussions.
Next week, we will continue make-up sessions for the MAP Assessment. Please make sure your students bring their Chromebooks to school, as they are essential for completing the assessments. On the topic of Chromebooks, I want to remind everyone that if a student loses their charger, it is the responsibility of the parents to replace it. Unfortunately, the school does not have the resources to replace lost or damaged chargers on a continuous basis.
Thank you all for your continued support. I look forward to what the rest of the school year will bring!

Students and Parents,
The National Society of Black Engineers Austin Professionals (NSBE AP) invites both students and parents to participate in our annual FreshStart program to be held on Sunday September 29, 2024 from 8:30am to 4pm. FreshStart is a unique initiative aimed at introducing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) concepts to 6th – 12th graders through interactive workshops.

Students: Reminder that teachers have paper forms for students to request to see their counselor (for emergencies, please call 9-1-1). If able, there is an online form as well:

Social Emotional Learning: The beginning of each week, students will receive instruction during Colt Time focusing on social emotional learning. Teachers and staff will utilize the Character Strong curriculum. Each lesson has an exit ticket in students’ counseling blend courses under “assignments” that must be completed in order for the student to participate in free time/recess that week.
