Principal's message

Bear Families,

I want to share important information about Austin ISD’s budget planning for the 2026–2027 school year and invite you to be part of this critical conversation.

Our district has worked hard to protect classrooms from budget cuts for as long as possible. Unfortunately, we have reached a point where that is no longer sustainable. This means Austin ISD must make significant decisions that could impact our schools, including Bailey.

As these decisions move forward, it is essential that your voice is heard.

I strongly encourage you to take 10–15 minutes to complete the anonymous FY2026–27 Preliminary Budget Planning Survey by Thursday, April 30. Your input will help guide how the district prioritizes resources while working to preserve what makes our schools special.

In addition, Austin ISD is hosting several Community Conversations where families can learn more and share their perspectives:

Saturday, April 25 | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Zoom)
Audience: Families, Staff & Community (English & Spanish)

Tuesday, April 28 | 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. (Austin High School)
Audience: Families, Staff & Community (English & Spanish)

Saturday, May 9 | 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Zoom)
Audience: Families, Staff & Community (English & Spanish)

These meetings are valuable opportunities to ask questions, share concerns, and help shape the path forward.

I understand that conversations about budget cuts can bring uncertainty. Please know that at Bailey, our focus remains on supporting every student and maintaining a strong, caring school community. Your voice plays an important role in helping us advocate for what our students need most.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for being such an important part of the Bailey community.

- Mr. Lancaster
