Supporting Our Schools through Amplify Austin

Amplify Austin is right around the corner on March 4–5. This is that special time of year when our entire city comes together to support the local causes we care about most. When you choose to give to the Austin Ed Fund, you are investing directly in our students, educators, and schools across the district. Every bit helps us provide the resources our kids need to thrive.

Honoring Our History and Our Team

As we head into March, we are also proud to recognize Women’s History Month. It’s a vital time to reflect on the contributions and trailblazing spirit of women who have shaped our world and our schools.

I also want to give a massive shout-out to the dedicated professionals who keep our district running behind the scenes.  Please join me in celebrating:

Austin ISD Educational Diagnosticians, Parent Support Specialists, and School Social Workers during their appreciation week from March 2–6.

All of our incredible staff for Austin ISD All Employee Appreciation Day on March 6.

Our teams work tirelessly to ensure our students have the support they need every single day. If you see one of these amazing staff members this week, please offer them a high-five or a word of thanks!

Austin ISD Pride Week: March 23–27

I am so excited to share that Austin ISD is gearing up for our upcoming Pride Week, and this year’s theme is one I absolutely love: “beYOUtiful.” We know that when our students feel safe, seen and supported to show up as their authentic selves, they are better able to engage and truly succeed academically.

📍Where I’ll Be & Who I’m Meeting

Monday, Mar 2, 2026

It is going to be a productive first week of March! I am starting Monday morning at Burnet MS with senior leadership before heading over to the Austin Voices "Stand Up for Schools" Luncheon. This year’s theme is “Keeping the Promise,” and I’m looking forward to discussing our progress in the Northeast Austin Promise Neighborhood.

After getting an update from the folks spearheading transition plans for the summer, I’ll be stopping by the Enrollment Clinic at the Boys & Girls Club on Ed Bluestein Blvd. If you know families who need help registering their children, please encourage them to come see us between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.— we want to ensure everyone has a smooth process finding their seat! I’ll wrap up the day at Mayor Watson’s GenATX Council of Champions, where I’ll have the opportunity to listen to Dr. Cynthia Osborne discuss effective investments for our youngest learners.

Tuesday, Mar 3, 2026

On Tuesday, I’ll be connecting with Trustees Gonzales and then later Trustee Quintana.  as well as meeting with AAPSA. Listening to and supporting our staff remains a top priority for me. I’ll end the day with a meeting with the ACC Chancellor Lowery-Hart to keep our strong partnership moving forward.

Wednesday, Mar 4, 2026

Wednesday begins with a touchpoint with Chief of Staff, La Kesha Drinks, followed by a meeting with Trustee Foster. The rest of the day will be dedicated to Governance Planning, a Mendez Transition Meeting, and time with Trustee de Urioste. I’m especially looking forward to an Informal Chat with Principals—those direct conversations are so vital to our shared work.

Thursday, Mar 5, 2026

We have a huge milestone to celebrate on Thursday: Casis Elementary’s 75th Anniversary! Happy Birthday, Cougars! Amidst the celebration, I’m looking forward to connecting with the Austin Ed Fund Board and spending time with the team mapping out our summer programs. We’re planning ahead now to make sure our students are set up for success the moment the school year ends! " I'll also be attending a Special Board Meeting in the afternoon.

Friday, Mar 6, 2026

We’re finishing the week strong on Friday with a focus on our future leadership. I’ll be conducting Principal and Leadership interviews and meeting with my Direct Reports. I’ll also have an Officer Connect session, catch up with Trustee Kauffman, and connect with our principals for their weekly update.

Take care of yourselves and each other. We’re in this together!
