🎓Until then, the district is gearing up for graduation celebrations. Graduations begin May 28.
If you’re attending a graduation and want to be better prepared, take the opportunity to read the Graduation FAQs on the Austin ISD Graduation 2025 page. Here you’ll find information on pre-paid parking and what items are allowed inside the graduations.
Now let’s get started…
Austin ISD gathering input to guide school consolidation process
To avoid deeper budget cuts and safeguard the academic experience, Austin ISD will consolidate schools starting in the 2026–27 school year.
Why it matters: The school consolidation process will ensure every student learns in a well-resourced, fully staffed school, with strong programs and rich opportunities.
Currently, our resources are spread too thin, leaving all schools feeling under-resourced. That’s not OK.
Consolidating schools will allow us to invest more fully in fewer campuses.
What this means: School consolidation means merging one or more campuses, which will entail:
School closures
Boundary changes
Transfer policy evaluation
Facility repurposing
By the numbers:
82% of Austin school children attend one of Austin ISD’s 116 schools.
Student enrollment has decreased by more than 10,000 students over the last 10 years, leaving the district with 25,000 empty seats.
While we’ve made $63M in non-campus cuts this year, we still have a $100M+ budget shortfall.
Get involved: Help us understand what matters most to you about your school.
Staff and families received an email with a unique survey link Tuesday, May 13. Use this link so your responses will be tied to your school.
Be sure to complete the survey by Friday, June. 6.
Where we’re headed: This summer, we’re laying the groundwork:
Setting board priorities to guide the process,
Creating a transparent tool to inform school consolidation,
Developing a process for boundary changes and transfer policy decisions and
Using community input and data to shape options.
We anticipate having a detailed plan outlining specific school consolidations and transition plans by mid-fall 2025.
This won’t be easy, but we’re committed to doing it with care, transparency and with our community.
The bottom line: This is about more than budgets or buildings. It’s about ensuring every student in Austin ISD has access to a high-quality education. And when we get it right, we’ll build a stronger Austin ISD, together.
Senior Success: Crockett ECHS senior headed to an Ivy League school
Crockett Early College High School Senior Celina McCormack is moving to the big apple to attend her dream school: Columbia University.
Celina credits her success to the supportive community at Crockett, where students are encouraged to pursue their unique paths.
What they’re saying: "We’re all different people from different places, but Crockett really preaches inclusion and helping each other succeed," Selena said.
What’s next: Celina plans to continue helping others feel included while working toward her long-term goals at Columbia and beyond.
It’s the final countdown: Three weeks until the Google Workspace transition!
