Hello everyone!  Happy Halloween!

First of all, we need to remind everyone that next Tuesday, November 4th, is not a school day. This is a staff development to provide opportunities for staff and (18-year-old) students to exercise their civic duties and vote!

Secondly, the SENIOR PANORAMIC PICTURE is next week on November 5th at 9:15am in the staff parking lot!

Third and finally, we know that many of our families might be affected by the federal government's shutdown, especially if SNAP benefits end up not going out.  Our family support team with Austin ISD has put together a document with a list of resources for any families experiencing food insecurity which can be found here.

Anderson also has a phenomenal relationship with Westover Hills Church of Christ across the street from us, and they have a food pantry.  Please see information on food pickup (or how to help, if you can!) at their website here.

IMPORTANT BELL SCHEDULE CHANGE

As you all know, we changed the bell schedule this year to improve our advisory and flexible advisory tutoring model. We've made some great changes to improve this system (including adding a flexible advisory tutoring day on Tuesday).

At this point, one thing that my leadership team has asked for is more time to tutor our students. So, we have decided to make a slight change to the bell schedule, extending our advisory time by 5 minutes and removing the 5 minutes in 2nd and 6th period that was specifically reserved for announcements.  See the change outlined below.

IMPORTANT PHONE POLICY CHANGE

We also wanted to let everyone know about one further change, this one to our personal device policy. (Sorry kids, it's not the change you're wanting)... It's a small change, but we felt it would be important to give a warning that it's happening.

Specifically, this change is for students who refuse to turn over their personal device when they are caught using it.  There has not necessarily been consistency with our team when that happens and a student is taken to ISS for refusal.  We have outlined that refusing to turn in a personal device when they are caught using it at school will not only result in ISS, but we have clarified that the device will still be confiscated, and that student will automatically move to the 3rd offense, which requires a parent to come pick up the device on the next school day.

Please note: that change is now outlined in our phone policy document.

Congrats Lady Trojan Volleyball - 2025 Bi-District Champs!

Congratulations to our Lady Trojan Volleyball Team! Last night they beat Eastview High School in 3 straight sets and earned their spot as the bi-district champs!

Come see their matchup against Victoria East at Seguin High School, Tuesday, November 4th at 7:30pm!

Congratulations to Colby Huntress!!!

A huge congratulations are in order for Colby Huntress, who just this morning became the 5A Cross Country STATE CHAMPION!  He ran his race with a 15:06, and made his whole trojan family proud! Congratulations, Colby!

National PTSA Reflections Program - "I Belong"

National PTA's Reflections program provides opportunities for students to explore their own thoughts, feelings, and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.

This year's theme for the 2025-2026 program year is “I Belong.”

Students submit their completed works in one or more arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. Multiple submissions are welcome! See category specific rules.

Anderson High School entries will be judged in a blind process, and selected entries will move on to the Texas PTA level. Entries chosen from Texas PTA Reflections will move on in the process, where they may be chosen for state-wide and national honors.  It's a great way to showcase your creativity (and looks good on your resume!).

The google form for submission is HERE.  Linked in the google form is the PTSA submission form as rules and other details.  And don’t forget: Students and/or a Family Member must be a current Anderson PTSA member for the 2025-2026 School Year by the November 7th entry deadline.

HERE are the CATEGORY SPECIFIC RULES
