Four day weeks always feel a bit chaotic, don't they?

That being said, we have a busy week coming up again! Please note that Monday is a student holiday so that we can hold parent-teacher conferences (see details below), and Tuesday is the PSAT (see details below for that, too!). So, stay tuned for all the important things coming up!

Also, I just want to send one more reminder before we start making phone calls: this month is an exceptionally important month for data verification. Every October, all schools need to work to verify their information that we submit to the state. A HUGE part of this is verifying family-submitted Income Verification Forms. It's VERY important to submit this so that we can have an accurate representation of our population of students who qualify as economically disadvantaged. There are two reasons for this:

1) School districts receive additional funding for supporting students who qualify as economically disadvantaged, so it's important that all schools submit an accurate number for that.

2) As a school, our growth measures are compared to a select group of schools. We are compared only to schools who have a comparative population and percentage of students who qualify as economically disadvantaged. It's incredibly important, if we want to be ACCURATELY measured for accountability, that we do what we can to make that number as close as possible to correct.

Please go into Enroll Austin as soon as you can to ensure that you have submitted the Income Verification Form for your child! We will begin reaching out to families who have not submitted this form next week.

Hello families!

This coming Monday, October 20th, is a staff development day, and the district has designated this day as the fall semester parent-teacher conference day.

Teachers will be hosting 10-minute conferences both in their classrooms and virtually between 10:30 and 12:30 and again between 2:00 and 4:00. This is a great opportunity to visit with a teacher for a more detailed conversation especially if your student is struggling in their class.

In order to make this a more orderly conference day, we have tasked our teachers with creating sign-up links so that we can honor parents' and teachers' time. For your convenience, we have added all the sign up links to this one spreadsheet.

If there are any teachers you know you'd like to have a chance to chat with on Monday, please use their sign-up link to create an appointment.

On Tuesday, October 21st, our 10th and 11th graders will be taking the PSAT test, which is the practice SAT exam. For 11th graders, the test is especially important, because it is also the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which determines eligibility for the National Merit Scholarship. That's a big deal, and we love bragging on our National Merit Commended Scholars, Semi-Finalists, and Finalists.

However, 9th and 12th graders will have some opportunities to focus on their future as well. We will make sure that all students are able to use this time productively for a great experience for all students.

Seniors - The 2026-2027 FAFSA is OPEN!

FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and it is used by colleges to determine student eligibility for federal and state grants, work study programs, need based scholarships, and student loans.  The 2026-2027 FAFSA is available at studentaid.gov.  Financial aid awards can be used at four-year universities as well as community colleges like ACC.  

Students who cannot complete the FAFSA due to residency, may be eligible to complete the TASFA – the Texas Application for State Financial Aid.  Read about the TASFA here. The TASFA will open on October 1.

Students who want to be eligible for Texas Grants via FAFSA or TASFA need to complete the forms by the Texas Priority Deadline of  January 15.

It is a Texas Graduation Requirement that seniors complete the FAFSA OR TAFSA OR to submit an Opt Out Form, Students must upload proof of their submission of FAFSA/TASFA or their Official TEA Opt Out Form to the 2026 Anderson Financial Aid Graduation Required Document form. Read more here.

If you're looking for a quiet place to study and receive help on academic work, you have access to free tutoring from Anderson teachers and NHS tutors TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS in the library from 4:45 to 6:00.

After tutoring, there is a late bus that will take students home. Students MUST be in the tutoring center in order to ride the late bus home. Bus stops for the late bus are listed below.

With their 62-3 victory over Cedar Creek, Anderson Trojan Football REMAINS undefeated for the season! What a great victory as we continue to be #1 in the district.

Anderson Trojan Tennis moved past the regional quarterfinals round with a huge victory over East View on Tuesday! Even though they finished the season at Regional Semi-Finals against A&M Consolidated, we are so so proud of them! Congrats!

Congrats to volleyball on their victories over Cedar Creek and McCallum over the past week! They remain undefeated!
