Hello everyone!

It was a great week in Trojan country!

REMINDER: Picture day is Thursday, September 18! Make sure your students are ready for their closeup!

We're starting to get into the swing of things here, and we finished the first 3 weeks reporting period! It's always amazing to me how quickly time goes by.

Two quick potpourri notes for everyone

1) Our big issue that we are working to correct right now is tardies. Please talk to your students about the importance of being on time to class, and how multiple instances of being tardy to class can begin to really impact the amount of instruction that a student misses.

2) When you need to check a student out early, please follow these guidelines:

  • Please send an email notifying us at Anderson@austinisd.org

  • Please give us at least 2 hours notice to write the pink pass that allows your student to leave

  • Please do not notify us after 2 pm

Thanks y'all! Let get into some info!

Please fill out these forms!

Earlier last week, I sent out district consent forms. These forms are INCREDIBLY important for you to fill out. They all stem from Senate Bill 12, which requires us to get WRITTEN parental consent before certain services. If you haven't done so yet, please fill out these forms as soon as possible. They're really quick and easy.

  1. Mental Health-Related Services
The district must notify parents of staff services related to school counseling and give parents the opportunity to opt out before those services are provided to their child.

  2. Physical Health-Related Services
Certain school-based health services, such as non-emergency medical screenings or treatments, now require your written permission.

  3. Participation in school-sponsored Student Clubs
If your child wishes to participate in school or district-sponsored clubs or organizations, parental approval is required. (You may have already received and completed this form if it was previously sent by your school.)

Updates on our bond project!

As a way to keep up to date on our bond project work, check out the website, where they will post updates and pictures as the process moves along. It's pretty cool! You can check it out at TrojanGym2026.com

Also, here are some progress pictures (and also, just in case anyone was curious, yes, I am still afraid of heights.)

Gifted and Talented Referrals

Gifted and Talented (GT) Services offer specialized support for children who perform or show the potential to perform at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment.

Some characteristics of GT students are students who seem to learn earlier or faster than peers, have an interest in problem-solving, display persistent curiosity, have deep, intense feelings or reactions, have diverse of unique interests, or seem highly creative or energetic.

If you would like your child to be assessed for GT Services, please fill out the GT Referral Form. Student screening will begin in October and parents/caregivers will be notified with the results. GT Services will begin in January for newly-identified GT students.

Tutoring Center is Open!

If you're looking for a quiet place to study and receive help on academic work, you have access to free tutoring from Anderson teachers and NHS tutors TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS in the library from 4:45 to 6:00.

After tutoring, there is a late bus that will take students home. Students MUST be in the tutoring center in order to ride the late bus home. Bus stops for the late bus are listed below.
