Hello everyone!

Y'all, it's been a GREAT week here in Trojan country.

The week started off with an INCREDIBLE Back-to-School night. It was so great to see everyone there, and I know your teachers loved meeting all of you too!

The Shoal Creek Showdown was an incredible game, and our Trojans made us so proud. What an incredible victory for our team; I am so excited to see where this team goes this year!

Also incredible: Our amazing Trojan Marching Band, our always stellar Trojan Belles, and the incredibly talented and spirited Trojan Cheerleaders and Mascots.

But even besides that, teachers were getting deep into the heart of their content, and the work is already started to dig into their coursework. Our systems are going strong!

But besides that... I'm tired, and I know you are too, so let's make sure you have the info you need.

Welcome back!

Please fill out these forms!

Earlier this week, I sent out district consent forms. These forms are INCREDIBLY important for you to fill out. They all stem from Senate Bill 12, which requires us to get WRITTEN parental consent before certain services. If you haven't done so yet, please fill out these forms as soon as possible. They're really quick and easy.

  1. Mental Health-Related Services
The district must notify parents of staff services related to school counseling and give parents the opportunity to opt out before those services are provided to their child.

  2. Physical Health-Related Services
Certain school-based health services, such as non-emergency medical screenings or treatments, now require your written permission.

  3. Participation in school-sponsored Student Clubs
If your child wishes to participate in school or district-sponsored clubs or organizations, parental approval is required. (You may have already received and completed this form if it was previously sent by your school.)

A Quick Personal Devices Update

In case you missed it, our board approved a new version of our personal device policy, and we have aligned our systems in compliance with the new board policy, including cracking down on personal device use during school hours.

It is INCREDIBLY important that we emphasize that this includes passing period AND lunch!

Up until we had our new policy in place, we were mostly giving a lot of warnings. However, starting Wednesday, the warnings ended and the confiscations began.

We take no joy in this task. It's not why we got into administration. But we also see the benefits and usefulness of being committed to having a personal device-free environment.

Since Wednesday, we have confiscated 160 personal devices, in alignment with our disciplinary matrix, which is found on page 2 of our Anderson Personal Device Policy.

Please, parents and guardians, help us by having conversations with your students about the importance of following this policy during the school day, including passing periods and lunch. This policy will not be going anywhere, and I really need us to all work together!

Shoutout to some of our amazing students

Y'all, sometimes our admin team catches some of our students doing something amazing out in the wild. We know we have a LOT of great kids here; we never want to take it for granted. But when we catch them in the act... man, it makes us so proud.

After the Shoal Creek Showdown, our students and fans were hot, sweaty and exhausted. Everyone was eager to get to the air conditioning, to go home, and to go to bed to prepare for the next day.

But Cash Hernandez, Lola Selberg, Lauchly Johnson, Andrew Nash, and Nicolas Naranjo-Ceballos stuck around to pick up ALLLLLLL the trash in the Anderson student section. It's such a simple act, but it really impressed the Anderson team, and we wanted to shout them out.

Thank you all so much. You make us proud.

Great students!

Coffee with the Principal / PTSA General Meeting - THURSDAY, September 4th, 2025 @ 9:15 am

If you've ever wanted to have a smaller get-together with me where I get to explain the finer points of the current state of education at Anderson High School, then BOY do I have news for you!

We do Coffee with the Principal ALMOST every month, and sometimes we like to lump it in with our PTSA general meeting so we can pull some double duty. USUALLY Coffee with the Principal will be on Fridays, usually the first Friday of the month. (But this month is a bit different).

One thing we are trying to do for Coffee with the Principal this year is get special guests to come, so that they can be helpful and answer your specific questions! This month, we will have our construction superintendent, Sal, come out to talk to us about the progress of the bond projects. It's sure to be a great conversation!
