Hello everyone!

Two weeks of STAAR EOC testing down - one to go!  So far, testing has gone extremely smoothly, and I'm excited to see what our students in English I, English II, Biology, and US History have learned this year - and tomorrow, we end our state testing with Algebra I!

On a different note, THE big topic of conversation these days is the Austin ISD budget. As of right now, I know of no decisions that have been made about how to meet the challenge of a projected $181 million deficit.  As conversations evolve, I will be able to give more information.

One thing the district has asked for is for feedback. An email from Superintendent Segura went out earlier, and here is the information below:

Join the Conversation

These decisions are deeply personal because they affect the people and programs that make Austin ISD special. As a community, we need your perspective to help us prioritize the programs and services that matter most to our students. To ensure our approach is as thoughtful and inclusive as possible, I invite you to get involved to help us shape a sustainable path forward before the final board vote on June 18:

Mark Your Calendars:

Virtual Sessions: April 25 and May 9 (11 a.m.–12 p.m.)

In-Person Session: Austin High School on April 28 (6–7 p.m.)

Take the Survey: Complete our 2026–27 Budget Feedback Survey no later than April 30.

Algebra STAAR EOC - Wednesday, April 22nd!

This coming Wednesday, April 22nd, will be the STAAR Algebra I EOC test! This is NOT a full campus shutdown test. Students who are testing will be in testing rooms, and other students will go about their normal schedule (with some potential classroom changes if their normal classroom is being used by testing). Testing students should receive an email from Associate Principal Molina recently explaining the details, so check that email to get the info!

If you have any questions, please reach out to Dr. Molina at jesus.molina@austinisd.org

Information About Business Practicum

Trojan Families—did you know our seniors can earn credit while gaining real-world experience through the Practicum in Entrepreneurship? Qualifying students completing a course of study in business, computer science, or related fields intern in local workplaces, applying what they’ve learned in a live setting, building skills in teamwork, collaboration...delivering great customer results together!

Internships take place Tuesday and Thursday mornings throughout the school year.

If you own a local business and would like to support these bright young professionals, we’d love to connect. Visit our website to learn more or request a conversation.

“Hosting a high school senior intern through this program was a win-win: the student brought real curiosity and energy, and the program made it easy for us to provide meaningful work, clear structure, and strong support. I’d recommend it to any employer who wants to make a genuine impact.”  — Jason Rapaport, Co-Founder, Birds Barbershop

Boy's Golf - State Bound!

Battling through tough competition and rain-soaked conditions at Margaritaville in Lake Conroe, the Anderson boys rose to the occasion when it mattered most.

The squad of Thomas Ashy, Stephen Eidson, Drew Gilley, Sam Woodberry, and Cash Hernandez delivered an outstanding performance, finishing as the Region 3-5A Runner-Up with a two-day team score of 631—edging out Brenham by just two strokes to punch their ticket to STATE!

Team 2—Josh Mazar, Tyler Crawford, Gabe Brockman, Gage Haegelin, and Jake Lea—also turned in a strong showing with a solid team score of 682.

We’re incredibly proud of these boys and all the hard work they’ve put in!

Updated Finals Schedule

As you may have read in my email previously this week, we did have to SLIGHTLY adjust the finals schedule for this semester because of the snow days and parent/teacher conferences.  I will share a screenshot of the finals schedule below.  For the FULL finals schedule, including the senior finals schedule and finals week attendance activities, please go to this link.
