Hello everyone!

Two quick notes:

1) Remember, we don't have school Monday OR TUESDAY (except staff - sorry, you need to be here Tuesday)!  Stay home, sleep in, and enjoy!

2) Tuesday is another Parent Conference Day. Our teachers will be available for conferences between 10:30 and 12:30 and again from 2:00 to 4:00. Please make an appointment for either in person or virtual, and you can find the signup for alllll our teachers at this link. If a teacher doesn't have a link on that sheet, please reach out by email to determine availability.

Happy Valentine's Day weekend!  I hope your weekend is filled with a love that would put even the cheesiest Hallmark movies to shame.

Let's get into it!

Black History Month Spotlight

For Black History Month, the Community Club here at Anderson will be sharing short blurbs about notable Black figures every week. This week, they would love to share with you about Sojourner Truth.

1797 - November 26, 1883
Born enslaved in 1797, Truth escaped slavery in 1826 with her infant daughter.  Sojourner sued for the freedom of her 5 year old son, becoming the first Black  Woman to sue a white man and win. Truth became heavily active in advocating for POC women’s rights and abolition. Though she did not live to see her effort  fulfilled, Sojourner Truth has remained an inspiration for generations after her.

Wrestling Regional Results!

We are proud to share that our wrestlers competed this past weekend at the Regional IV 5A Tournament in Corpus Christi and finished as Regional Runner-Up, placing 2nd overall against strong competition.

This outstanding performance has earned our team a spot at the UIL State Wrestling Tournament, which will take place this weekend in Houston. Their success is a reflection of months of hard work, dedication, and perseverance—both on and off the mat.

Please join us in congratulating our wrestlers and wishing them the best of luck as they represent Anderson at the state level!

100lb - Ashley Marron Rodriguez, 12th grade                                       285lb - Jimmy Truong, 12th grade

School-based SAT for Juniors - March 3, 2026

Free SAT School Day for Juniors – March 3, 2026

All Anderson HS juniors will take the SAT during the school day on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Students are automatically registered by Anderson HS, and there is no cost to families.

The SAT is an important milestone in 11th grade. In Texas, qualifying SAT scores can be used to demonstrate Texas Success Initiative (TSI) college-readiness exemptions, which are used by Texas public colleges for enrollment and placement. SAT scores are also widely used in college applications and scholarship consideration. SAT scores can also help students meet TEA CCMR Markers.

In preparation for the test, Anderson counselors have given SAT Prep presentations in English 3 classes. Students were also provided an SAT Prep Toolkit with free practice resources to support independent preparation via College Board's BlueBook/Khan Academy and students created personalized practice plans in IXL via the student portal.

Students in 9th, 10th, and 12th grades will have a normal school day on March 3rd. Additional details about test-day procedures and reminders will be shared with students as the date approaches.

Counselor Updates!

Charley Maccabe - Clifton Student of the Month!

Last week, Clifton recognized our most recent round of Students of the Month.  Each of our teachers chooses one student amongst all their sections to recognize.  This month, one Anderson student was recognized:

Health Science: Charley Maccabe

Charley is a very dedicated student, and you can catch him taking extra notes for his CCMA exam prep work. He is always ready and comes into class prepared with his own stethoscope and BP cuff. Charley is showing great eagerness during our current hospital rotations and comes back with key information on the department he is shadowing.
