Hello everyone, and happy Friday!

Important info up front: SATURDAY SCHOOL IS CANCELED TOMORROW! We will reschedule at a later time.

A quick point of interest before I move into the important news for the week. Registration is so important that I will tell you about it a few times.

Registration Is Happening!

I will send out more detailed information next week, but registration is an incredibly important process for EACH school year. Making sure we have the most up-to-date forms and information for students and contacts is an essential part of school operation. Every student needs to be registered, with the proper up-to-date forms every year.

For any IB students, prospective IB students, or IB transfers, the registration window is open January 12 - February 6.

For any transfer or general enrollment student, the window is from February 16 - April 10, and reopens on April 13.

It is ESSENTIAL that all families register every year.  Please see this site for more information.

School-based SAT for Juniors - March 3, 2026

Free SAT School Day for Juniors – March 3, 2026

All Anderson HS juniors will take the SAT during the school day on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Students are automatically registered by Anderson HS, and there is no cost to families.

The SAT is an important milestone in 11th grade. In Texas, qualifying SAT scores can be used to demonstrate Texas Success Initiative (TSI) college-readiness exemptions, which are used by Texas public colleges for enrollment and placement. SAT scores are also widely used in college applications and scholarship consideration. SAT scores can also help students meet TEA CCMR Markers.

In preparation for the test, Anderson counselors have given SAT Prep presentations in English 3 classes. Students were also provided an SAT Prep Toolkit with free practice resources to support independent preparation via College Board's BlueBook/Khan Academy and students created personalized practice plans in IXL via the student portal.

Students in 9th, 10th, and 12th grades will have a normal school day on March 3rd. Additional details about test-day procedures and reminders will be shared with students as the date approaches.

Anderson School Honor Roll - GOLD!

Every year, AP gives certain school award based on their commitment to college-going culture, and it is determined by the number of students who take AP tests, the number of AP tests taken, and the percentage of students who score at a 3 or above on their AP tests. Last year, Anderson received the silver award, and I am please and proud to say that this year, we received the GOLD award! It's a great accomplishment and I am very proud of our AP teachers, our AP coordinator Natalie Adams, and all of our AP students who have represented us so well!
