Hello everyone!  Happy Thanksgiving!

It's been a truly incredible beginning to the school year, the last few weeks especially. I know the beginning of the school year always feels like a bit of a marathon, so I am hopeful that everyone gets the rest that you deserve. Our kids, our families and our staff have been working incredibly hard, and I know everyone needs a breather.

On a personal note, my wife and I have recently bought our first house, so we will be celebrating our first Thanksgiving there, which is really exciting. Her family will be joining us for that, and I'll be making time to visit my family as well. I feel truly lucky for such opportunities.

I am also reminded, over this Thanksgiving break, to be thankful.

I'm thankful every day to have the privilege of leading this school, these students, these amazing staff members.

I'm thankful for a community that celebrates all of our amazing programs, supports our teachers and staff, and challenge us to always keep improving what we do.

I'm thankful for a staff that is so supportive and dedicated to our students and to each other.

And I'm eternally grateful for all 2,173 students who make Anderson the wonderful educational institution that it is and are the reason we do what we do.

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all.

Congratulations Anderson Football - Bi-District Champs!

It was an emotional and nerve-rcaking game on Saturday, but our Anderson Trojans were victorious! They earned their first Bi-District Championship since 2010!

Come cheer them on as they take on Barber's Hill at the Berry Center in Cypress, Texas! Saturday, 11/22 at 5pm!

Congratulations Anderson Cafeteria!

This past week, we had a surprise health inspection in our cafeteria, and I am very happy to report that our food services team received their 14th 100 in a row!

Our food services team, let by Ofelia Diaz, is the best is Austin ISD, and we are so proud of their standard of excellent and high quality food service practices.

Congratulations Ofelia and team!

IB Information Meeting - Thursday, Dec 4

Please join us for an information meeting on Thursday, December 4th.  This session is for any prospective students including current Anderson sophomores and families of 8th graders considering priority transfer to Anderson for IB.  Come and find out what IB is all about.  We will have current IB students and teachers available to meet and answer questions.  This is a great way to help understand IB’s inquiry based curriculum.

Thursday, December 4, 2025    6:00 - 7:00pm in the AHS cafeteria
Anderson High School, 8403 Mesa Drive, Austin 78759

Park in the staff lot on Cima Serena and look for a gate close to the theater next to the cafeteria to enter.  There will be a representative at the gate.

Expect Respect Group taking referrals!

Expect Respect is a program from the SAFE Alliance that has served the Austin community since 1989. Students learn skills to promote safe and healthy friendships, family, and even dating relationships. The program offers a space where a small group of teens come together to practice assertive communication, problem-solving, stress management, and personal safety. Support is provided weekly at school and is free of charge. These confidential services are provided by highly trained Expect Respect Counselors or Facilitators during the student Advisory period. If your student gives their assent to participate, they will meet with the Expect Respect group once a week through the beginning of May, for approximately 50 minutes during the school day.

Parent/Guardian consent for the group is needed before Expect Respect staff can meet with your student. If you would like to consider this opportunity, please fill out the consent form at this link: https://tinyurl.com/ER-Parent-Consent. If you have not already done so, you will also need to give general consent to Anderson High School at this link Mental Health Services Consent Form in English

An informative flyer is attached. If you have any questions, please contact Janna Griffin, Anderson Counselor, at janna.griffin@austinisd.org.
